The Accrington and Huncoat communities are mourning the passing of Cllr David Parkins, 76, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026. His loss has brought sadness to family, friends, colleagues, and the many residents who knew and respected him through his years of community service.
David was remembered as a valued member of the community whose dedication and involvement made a lasting impression on those around him. His work as a councillor reflected his commitment to supporting local people and contributing to the place he called home.
Funeral arrangements have been announced, with a service scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Accrington Crematorium on Burnley Road. Following the service, a celebration of David’s life will take place at Accrington Town Hall.
Before the funeral service, the funeral cortège will travel through Huncoat Village, allowing residents and members of the public an opportunity to line the route, pay their respects, and say goodbye. Supporters have also been invited to wear a touch of red in memory of David.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huncoat Community Forum. David’s family has expressed gratitude for the love, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time.
